Nanda Devi Raj Jat 2027: how Chamoli and Garhwal tour operators and homestays can prepare

The Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra is one of Uttarakhand's rarest pilgrimages. It is held roughly once every 12 years, as a three-week procession from Nauti village in Chamoli district up to Homkund, near Roopkund.

The Raj Jat committee postponed the yatra from 2026 to 2027, citing repair and preparation work on the high-altitude route. The 2027 dates are expected to be announced on Basant Panchami, and the yatra usually runs in August–September. A separate Badi Jaat committee announced its own procession for September 2026, so check which yatra a guest is asking about.

For homestays, guesthouses and local tour operators in Chamoli, Tharali, Ghat, Wan and the surrounding valleys, this is a rare chance to be found online. Very few businesses have pages about it.

Why start now

Because the Raj Jat is so rare, there is little reliable information online, and pilgrims and trekkers search for it. A clear, honest page published months ahead can rank with little competition.

What to publish

• A note that you will confirm dates once the committee announces them, so there are no guessed dates

• A Raj Jat 2027 page with the traditional route, what the high-altitude stretch involves, fitness requirements, permits and what you include
• Separate pages for the trek section (for example, towards Roopkund and Homkund) and for travellers who want to join only the lower stages
• Clear safety information, because the high section is serious mountain terrain

When the dates are announced

Update every page the same day, and post the news on your Google profile and WhatsApp status. Early, accurate updates build trust, and Google notices which pages change first.

Keep it accurate

The Raj Jat is a religious procession, not a tourist event. Respect local customs in what you publish, don't invent dates or packages you can't deliver, and point people to official announcements.
